Inclement Weather

Yup, two weeks of inclement weather with 29 new first graders - this teacher is exhausted. I know you all know the feeling.  I have been at school every day until after 5 getting things done.

I love my sweet class (there is a lot of them) but we will get it figured out.  After lunch the first day, about 4 kids put their backpacks on.  I couldn't figure out what they were doing (I was tired).

"Why, do you have your backpack on," I said.

One of my cuties said, "it is time to go home."

I said, "not yet, we still have 3 hours."

Cutie said, "Are you kidding me?"

Sorry babe, if I have to stay - so do you.  Too funny, figured out he was morning kinder.  He is adorable.

My son is kidnapping me, at the moment.  We are heading to the beach for dinner and a walk.  I think he is tired of seeing his mom at the dining room table working on school goodies every night, lol

I have more pictures to post of my room - will do it tomorrow.  Enjoy your Saturday.   Oh, I also spent way too much money at the TpT sale last weekend, geez. Good thing hubby is in Hawaii.

Monday Make-it

I have been busy getting my classroom together this week.  I made a classroom blog, Mrs. Sasaki's Amazing Kids.  Ok, I didn't really make it - Barb from Ruby Slippers Blog Designs made it.  But, I did pick out the paper that I wanted for the blog AND love everything she did.  So I did do something.  If you need a blog or a blog redesign - check her out.  She is wonderful plus, she can read minds.

Today, is the first day of school.  I hope the weather cools down a bit.  I did mention that I will have 30 first graders - didn't I.

I am Ready.....

I think.  Oh my gosh, I am so tired.  I know all of your understand the feeling.  My husband - not so much.  He will call me and ask me if I am still at work, my response is "yup".  It is a good thing he is so far away.  I did manage to take a 2 hour nap today, I sure needed it.

So here is the first part of my room.  I am really liking the way it turned out. But, I still could spend another week getting it ready.   Thirty kids take up a ton of room, eekk.

My behavior clip chart from Corinna at Surfin' Through Second.  I started using a clip chart last May and loved it - when I saw Corinna's clip chart I knew I HAD to have it.  Notice where the chevron ends, that is for a normal class size.  Now, see how much I needed to add - geez.  It is almost 6 feet high, but I have a step stool for my darlings.

Next to my door is "How We Go Home" by Michelle at Run! Miss Nelson's Got the Camera.  It was super easy - print, laminate, add ribbon and finished.  She has a bunch of different icons in the packet.

On the other side of the door.  Class rules, 100 mile chart, my portable word wall (love it), district required posters and those black things are two additional cubbies for my 30 darlings.  I didn't get a good picture of the class rules, they are from Cara Carroll - I will take another picture and link up tomorrow.

Portable word wall is from Tonya at Tonya's Treats for Teachers.  You print out the letters, glue to index cards, laminate, hole punch and they are done.  You add your own grade level appropriate words.  I wrote all my student's names and a few sight words - to start.

My calendar wall - it is not crooked, I was really tired.  The beach pieces are from Jen at The Teacher's Cauldron.  The rest of it I made.  The clocks are from the dollar section at Target.

Above the paper is my beach alphabet and beach numbers by Jen at The Teacher's Cauldron.  The clock numbers are from Clutter-Free Classroom - super easy to use.

Well, that is all for tonight.  I am heading to sleep, I have a hard time sleeping the night before.  I get the "First Grade Jitters", will probably be awake by 3, again.

Things I Know

These are the things I know at the moment.  The rest of my life is a blur, giggle.

1.  I miss my husband a lot, especially since he would cut out all my laminating - the pile is huge at the moment.

2.  It takes way too much time to set up a classroom.  I have spent two days - not even close to being done.  I feel like I am walking in circles around my room.

3.  I spend more money on my students for supplies than my district does.

4.  I love my theme, but I need to quit looking at other teacher's rooms because I want their theme, too.

5.  I need to go clothes shopping because I forgot 5 pairs of capris, my tennis shoes and some tops in Hawaii.  No wonder there was room in my suitcase for all the fun stuff.

6.  I need the suitcase fairy and the grocery store fairy to visit my house and take care of those things for me.

7.  I need a nap.  Getting out of bed at 3 AM on a Saturday is just wrong on so many levels.  I did get 2 hours of laminating cut.  Geez, I miss my husband.

Have a great Saturday.  I am heading to school, Day #3.

Oh no.....

I thought I would stop by school yesterday afternoon to start working on my room. It is not a good sign, when you are warned by three people that your room is a mess. Oh my gosh, it was horrible, I almost cried. They have been using my room as a storage place. Since we are getting 6 more students per class, they took all my desks (no problem). They also took all my math and language arts workbooks, again no problem. But there is stuff everywhere

I had set up two areas, but they took all my stuff and put it on the floor or piled more stuff on top - have no idea who it belongs to.

They assured me that all 30 of my desks will be set up and boxes removed by Friday morning. That's great. Problem is that someone is coming in today to put all my paper up and move the desks where I want them to go. I pay a friend to do set up, so I won't be so tired and I can do all of the fun things. I know it will get done but I didn't want to spend the whole weekend doing it. I'm glad that I have a great room mom that makes my copies

I am home

I got home really early this morning, my plane was delayed again. I feel sorry for my son (he picks me up) and he gets up so early to go to work - so he didn't get a lot of sleep.  It felt good to sleep in my own bed and walk around in my own house.  But, I am missing my hubby terribly. It is hard only seeing a few months out of the year.

I have so much stuff to do today:

1.  Need to hit the sales at Target, Staples and Walmart.
2.  I need to get a bunch of laminating done
3.  Unpack the suitcases
4.  Go to the grocery store - out of everything, including coffee.
5.  Stalk TpT store.
6.  Make a plan for work

So maybe, I should get off the computer, hmmmm......
